A Doodle Doo!
SATURDAY afternoon, when I returned home from work, Patti, Hunter Isaiah and I piled into the Jetta and ventured to Strotz's farm for some fun. We were hunting for bunnies. We pulled up and the kids scattered. Looking at the goats, bunnies and kittens. I was after a Rooster. Jameson chose a white bunny and Hunter picked out a sweet lil black one. I think Patti really wanted that kitten, but passed. I chose a teenage rooster . In a box they all went. Rabbits in one and the Rooster in another. Paid. Piled back in to the car. Boxes on laps. Giggles from the back seat. Sneek-a-peekin and lil finger pets through the box. Patti and I laughing up front.
Home. We opened up the boxes and put our furry and feather friends into their new homes. The bunnies were excited and went right for the food and water. Fresh straw. Big cage. Tiny lil babies. The Hens, well, these lil ladies did not like the Cock in their Hen house. He is still being held off in the bushes, waiting to grow so he can come out and play. Hes just a teenager, 2 months behind the girls. He will catch up soon. I named him "A Doodle Doo", I thought it fit nicely with all of our other names so far: Henny, Penny, Chicken little, Buffalo...Those are the for sure ones so far that we can all agree on. There were two more eggs for us when we got there. The boys grabbed them and I had to, once again, explain what an egg was and what was inside. Mom sure knows everything...I hope. Imaginations went wild. The boys ran around the yard playing with their toy guns. Hide and seek in the woods. Fort building. Silly conversations floated through the yard towards me. Bubbles were everywhere to be popped and captured. Chickens were loose in the yard. Following the boys. Up on the deck with me. Silly Chickens!
SUNDAY the boys woke up to me making a big breakfast. Bacon. Eggs. Pancakes and juice. They all filled their plates and went back to their beds they had made out of the couches for their sleepover. Soon Hunter #2 was there to join Hunter and Isaiah for a Halo extravaganza, Jen for a morning visit with me. With their powers combined they became Hunter Squared. I chip chopped Jen's hair in the yard making layers and thinning her massive mane while the boys played outside on the trampoline and with the bunnies. Chasing chickens. Isaiah went home and soon there was 2 and a wee 1.
Pico de gallo time! Next was chopping the veggies for the huge Turkey baking pan we were filling. HAND squeezing a million lemons! The boys went with Mark overnight to Transformers 3 in 3D and Jameson made a comfy afternoon nest on the rocking chair as the sun went down. Scooby doing it up. Greg got home with hot dogs to BBQ and we all sat down for some dinner. Jokes! "Your boyfriend has big muscles!" YES, Yes he does! LOL!
Jen, What a fun night of sitting on the counter gabbing away about our lives. Turning 30. Our childhoods together. Our kiddos and our fun with friends. Thanks for such a fun night!
