Then Pop went the corn!
November 5, 2011
Kaila, Luke and Will came through the door excited as all heck for our Saturday sleepover! We had waited all week. Counting down each day as if it were an eternity. Jameson ran for Kaila and attacked her leg. Then, it was exploration and toy time. On went the Scooby Doo. "Scooby Dooby!" and the boys drug every toy out that they could find to attempt to create a fort. Fail. But the effort was indeed well thought out. Drape blankets over everything and anything. Success! The doll Jesse went everywhere with Luke. She even made it into some pictures, posing right along side him. The boys had "Beautiful Hair" and twirly skirts. Races and Train tracks from room to room. Stories and tall tales. It was an imagination filled night. Little Will just went with the flow. Shooting guns, making sound effects for each shot. Tagging along after big-brother. Jumping on the bed. Doing "big boy" things.
I had spaghetti on the oven with home made garlic bread (my version). Then POP went the corn! Big laughs all around as some pieces flew into the air. Bopping them on the head. The kiddos were SO excited for their own bowls. Wriggling and Squiggling. Dumping on gallons of white cheddar. Hunter pulled a "Great Escape" to Kobe's house for his version of a sleepover and soon it was mom chit-chat time. Warm fire. Big couch. Blankets and Pillows. A slight calm went through the house as they dropped like flies. Everyone was out by midnight, including the mommies.
Falling back for Fall sure made the 7:00 wake up call seem terrible when the clock read 6. Boo. Breakfast was on. Potatoes. Bacon. English muffins. Eggs. All down the hatch. "3 more bites...." and then the boys were on to some leftover Halloween candy in Jameson's Pumpkin bucket.
What a GREAT sleepover it was!
