Where oh Where did the summertime go? Where oh Where could it be?

Where oh Where did the summertime go? Where oh Where could it be? Im afraid it has went right into the 4th grade with my son Hunter. Its amazing how time grows wings then sure enough, without hesitation, it flies. Up into that big blue sky! Hunter and Jameson on its back. I look at my boys and see their smiling faces, the excitment grows for life and new days. The adventures ahead. Changes. Hunter will long for summer once in class. No doubt about that. This summer has come far too late for the kiddos to really enjoy. But, Off to school he will go. Backpack ready. First day outfit picked out. Lunch ready to go.
School orientation is the night before the first day here in Arlingtonville. Hunter has his favorite zippie on. New jeans and his favorite romeos.
It all reminds me of my first day back to school. Being so little. Hair crimped. My white fringe cowgirl boots and jean skirt, with matching jean bow (that I wore everywhere! Even into the bath tub). I was so excited in my new clothes. Getting on that bus, always the first ones on. Still dark out every morning. Seeing friends again. Laughing. Showing off the new backpacks and trapper keeper. Awwww, to be little again. To be excited about something so small. But so BIG.
Im glad I was able to carry a piece of that simplicity into adulthood. I can still be satisfied with the simple things. Im greatful for that. Still laughing as I cannon ball off the dock. As I swing out on the roap swing, as high as it will let me. Running through the sprinkler with my boys. Playing toss. Digging in the dirt for treasures. Jumping up oh-so-high for that big plum for the boys as they point and yell out "Get this one Mom!" Feew. Got it! Picking blackberries for morning pancakes. Playing the cant stand up game on the trampoline. Making Camo forts out of huge boxes with opening windows, doors and skylights, all with a pull of a string or two. Making dinner with my expert gravy maker and potato masher. Making rice krispy treats with extra butter and mellows per Hunters taste buds. Playing cant catch me in our monster feet slippers and jammies. Bubble bath beards. And to put it all to sleep...a good story...
Its great how the simple things are the best of all. Sometimes we forget that. Im happy to have my boys to remind me how simple life can be. Im glad im raising them that way. Simply.
Life is sweet isnt it?
