God, Thank you for putting another horse crazed maniac in my life. It was getting lonesome!

Rachel and I talked today. We talked for over an hour. About Horses. She is riding and has fallen in love with horses as well. I am so happy for her. I am so happy that we have this in common. It was a hobby I shared alone.
Since I was 11 years old I have loved horses. My first ride was a pony named Sammy that lived down the road. She was my best friend Jessie's pretty pony. She was white, gray and sweet as molasses. Then it was on to working on a ranch every school break in Oso. All summer long, every summer we were in heaven. Jessie and I took care of 6 horses. Cleaning stalls. Cleaning tack. Riding. Learning. Loving every minute. During all of this Jessie and I rode her families horses and took care of them. Buck and Sierra. Horses were our life. There was nothing that could amount to the love we had for horses and riding. Then came Tiki. She was a quarter horse. Trained in Barrel racing. White dappled with tiny gray spots. She loved only me. I was the only one that was brave enough to get on her. And when I did, she took me for a ride alright. She became the love of my life. We did everything together. Jumped fallen trees. Sun-bathed bare back as she grazed the fields. Road up every mountain road around. I swam with her in the river. Sprayed skin so soft on her to keep the flies away. (insert sigh here, I miss her.) She was my shadow. She was my very best friend.
If you have never had the chance to bond with a horse. You should. It is unlike any other animal. My best friend Rachel put is well "They are free spirits" and I agree. They are. There is something to be said about the love of a spirit that free.
God, Thank you for putting another horse crazed maniac in my life. It was getting lonesome!
